Hola de Urubamba

I made it to Peru safely, around 10 yesterday morning. I went straight to the ProWorld house in Cusco to have my Spanish interview and meet the other interns. It turns out that instead of living in Cusco like I thought, I am in Urubamba, a smaller town about an hour away. It is so pretty here, and in the Sacred Valley. I am actually excited to be in this smaller town because it is quieter and without all of the traffic, noise, and higher altitude that Cusco has.
The family I am staying with are Jose y Josi Estrada, and they are so welcoming!! They have 3 daughters, Emily (8), Angela (6), and Josefina (5 months). Josi told me at least twice yesterday, "Nuestra casa es tu casa." They live right off the main plaza in Urubamba. Emily knows pretty good English but the others don't, which will be good for my Spanish. They have been housing interns for a long time and seriously seem to know everyone. Randomly today 8 other people joined us for lunch.
My internship begins tomorrow with a women's empowerment organization called ProMujer that is brand new. I find out all of the details of what I will be doing in the morning when I have orientation.
I have to go but please pray that my body gets acclimated quickly to the altitude and that my stomach gets acclimated to the food. So far I am okay. Thanks!
P.S. I don't really like how my blog looks right now, but I didn't have time before I left to change it. Hopefully soon!

  10. I'm glad to know you are well and seeming to enjoy Urumbamba and your host family. I have certainly been praying for you throughout each day. How was your first day at ProMujer? Have you eaten quinoa yet? Everyone is well here. I love you and am proud of you!
