I´ve had lots of lasts so far this week-my last Urubamba women´s group, last volunteer dinner, last Spanish class, last Calca women´s group, last day of teaching English.
Tomorrow I´ll eat my last meal with my family, help my 1st grade class for the last time, and probably lots of other things that I can´t think of right now. I didn´t think I would be this sad to leave Peru, but my experience here has been so positive. On the other hand, I am very excited to be warm again and spend time with my family and friends at home.
Funny story: my host sister, Emily, likes to pretend she´s a dance teacher and taught Katherine and I salsa last night in our store. The store unfortunately faces the plaza where three Peruvian guys were sitting and had a perfect view of us and were cracking up. Emily refused to let us move haha, so I thought, what the heck, I´ll never see these people again. WELL, my 1st grade professor is so nice and invited me to her house tonight to have tea. A lot of her family was there, including her son, Jadad, who is about my age. Anyways, a few minutes after we had started drinking tea he asked me if I lived in the plaza, and then he asked me how my dancing was last night. Some of my friends had gone dancing last night so I told him, oh no, I didn´t dance last night. Then he said, no, I mean, I saw you dancing in your store! Then I realized he was one of the guys watching us from the bench, and he said he was. How embarrassing. Also, his mom had him walk me home and we saw one of his friends who was also there last night, and Jadad introduced me as the girl who was dancing salsa last night.
More later!!
Ha, GET IT EM. Dance salsa with that man ;)
ReplyDeleteHAHA you would! I've decided that next week we need to make Chinese/Peruvian food. It could be amazing.
